BE SMART, STAY GREEN- an eTwinning project
ABOUT THE PROJECT:
We live in a world highly affected by environmental issues (global warming, climate change, food shortage, water shortage, floods, droughts etc.). Students need to be equipped with ‘green skills’ and ‘life skills’ (critical thinking, self-awareness, creative thinking, decision making, problem solving, interpersonal skills) so as to be able to face present and future real-world challenges. As teachers, we need to shape a generation of students that will drive positive changes, will become environmentalist individuals that care for the environment, that will have knowledge about sustainability and a responsible attitude towards the environment, that will have the necessary skills to secure and thrive at work at the same time. In this respect, we will apply the following approaches to help students develop the skills mentioned above: student-centred approach, project- based approach, creativity-based approach, inquiry-based learning, problem-solving learning. They will choose the Sustainable Development Goals they want to study and their importance in collaboration with their partners to complete common works on SDGs.

AIMS
- gain ‘green skills’ to have the knowledge and abilities to tackle environmental problems and contribute to sustainable development;
- gain a set of ‘life skills’ doing the project activities
- develop their learning-to-learn skills while studying the SDGs they choose;
- improve communication and collaboration skills as they are going to meet and interact with their peers while doing the project activities.
- improve their creativity by doing the project activities with their imagination and web 2.0 tools.
- improve their communication in a language skills as the language of the project is English.
- improve digital skills by using web 2.0 tools while implementing the project activities.
EXPECTED RESULTS
We expect our
students to become environmental individuals, equipped with skills to face
real-world challenges. We also expect our students to gain ‘green skills’ (how
to tackle environmental problems, gain knowledge about sustainability, have a
responsible attitude towards the environment) and ‘life skills’ (critical
thinking, creative thinking, decision making, problem solving, interpersonal
skills, communication). After studying the 3 SDGs chosen by the students, they
will have to make a final product for each in collaboration with their peers
working in mixed teams. They will also decide the final product of the project
by answering a question of Forum or a poll.
